Fulvous Whistling Duck

These fulvous whistling ducks were at Martin Mere Wildlife and Wetland Trust Reserve in Lancashire. They are not normally seen wild in UK, being common across the world’s tropical areas.

The word fulvous relates to the orange-ish/brownish/yellowish/tawny colour of these and similar birds.

I’m more familiar with the rather more slender black bellied whistling ducks we see in Houston.
