We spotted this lesser scaup, a North American diving duck, in Houston’s Hermann Park. These ducks feed by sifting mud at the bottom of the lake.


This would be a male; the female has a brownish body – quite different.

Nice photos! It’s a Ring-necked Duck, though, not a Lesser Scaup. They are very similar 🙂
