We came across this rather fine specimen fungus in woods in Gent, early September.

This seems to correspond with Dryad’s Saddle on the Wild Foods UK website, and is said to be edible. A dryad is a tree nymph or tree spirit.

Other names include Scaly Polyporus and Polyporus Squamosus.
